Marketplace India

Brand Identity | UI/UX Design

Brand identity and website design for an e-commerce site selling artisanal handcrafted goods from India.

The Challenge: Marketplace India, with its multifaceted identity as a nonprofit and an eco-friendly fair trade clothing brand, faced the challenge of presenting a clear and unified brand story. The company aimed to amplify its status as an organization empowering low-income women through artisanal craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and ethical standards, fostering leadership, community impact, and the beauty of handmade excellence in every aspect of their operations.

However, the old website added to this challenge. It suffered from clunkiness and a lack of user-friendly navigation, making it difficult for visitors to find what they were looking for. The top bar categories failed to highlight the most important sections of the website, leading to confusion and frustration among users. Additionally, the site's responsive abilities were subpar, with elements failing to stack properly or maintain an organized appearance across devices.

The Solution: To tackle these challenges, I concentrated on crafting a streamlined and user-friendly experience. This included reorganizing the navigation to highlight important sections, adding clear calls-to-action, and optimizing responsiveness for all devices.

By improving the site's structure, functionality, and visual appeal, the revamped MarketPlace India e-commerce platform now provides a seamless and pleasant shopping journey for users, leading to higher engagement and conversions. Additionally, I updated the MarketPlace India icon and created a modern lockup, complemented by a vibrant color palette inspired by South Asian visual art and traditional fabrics.
